Early Life

Colleen Zenk was born in Barrington, Illinois. She studied drama at The Catholic University of America. Her dream of becoming a dancer was distracted by a knee injury. This made her continue acting instead. She began her career with print ads and TV commercials, mainly  for Kellogg’s products.

Throughout her life, Zenk had two marriages, first to musician and actor Michael Crouch in 1983, and then to actor Mark Pinter in 1987. They raised six children together. In 2007, Zenk had oral cancer and underwent multiple surgeries and radiation treatments. She used her experience to raise awareness of oral cancer risk factors and the importance of early screening. Zenk also contracted and recovered from COVID-19 in 2020.
