The ending of the second episode of X-men ’97 that was released on March 20 left the people in a cliffhanger. X-men ’97 is the continuation of the series X-Men: The Animated Series (1992–1997) and the story is being revived.
X-men 97 Season 1: Episode 2 Ending Explained
After the release of the first two episodes of X-Men ’97, viewers saw a startling development that could have changed Storm’s life forever in the final moments of the second episode.
When her powers are taken away, the mutant, who can bend the weather, experiences a terrible loss. The X-Men will be significantly impacted by this, and she will face difficult circumstances moving forward.
Although Storm appears to have suffered irreversible damage, X-Cutioner’s rifle may have the opposite effect. Storm was impacted cellularly by the concentrated radiation shot from the rifle, which was the same radiation used in the mutant inhibitor collars.
However, Jean promised that they would figure out a solution when Beast informed Storm of the situation. Therefore, it’s likely that in the future, the X-Men will figure out a way to solve that. After the demise of Professor X, the team has now lost another Omega-level mutant.
However, it seems likely that a remedy to undo the effects of the rifle on Storm will be discovered, given that Jean and Beast have gotten in touch with the most extensive mutant research facility on Muir Island.
Wiki
Drawing inspiration from the Marvel Comics superhero team X-Men, Beau DeMayo created the American animated television series X-Men ’97 for the streaming service Disney+.
Picking up where the original series left off, X-Men: The Animated Series (1992–1997) is being revived. With the passing of Professor X, the X-Men are shown to be facing perilous new obstacles.
With Jake Castorena serving as supervising director and DeMayo as head writer for the first two seasons, Marvel Studios Animation produces X-Men ’97.
Plot
In the second episode of X-Men ’97, Mutant Liberation Begins, Storm loses her powers during a meeting with Magneto. The Friends of Humanity attempt to exact revenge on the mutant, but Storm is shot and loses her powers.
Beast confirms that Storm’s loss is permanent, and the weapon used by the Friends of Humanity used a concentrated dose of radiation. This puts a strain on the team, and Storm’s departure is a massive loss.
In episode 2, Jean Grey gives birth to her and Cyclops’ kid. Jean Grey goes into labor during Magneto’s trial and is taken to the hospital by Wolverine. When Cyclops and Rogue arrive, Jean gives birth to a baby boy, Nathan Summers, a mutant specializing in time-traveling.
Another twist involving Jean Grey is when her clone arrives at the X-Mansion, setting up the storyline surrounding Madelyn from the comics.
Nathan is the child of Madelyn and Cyclops, and the big reveal this season could be that the woman Cyclops thought was the mother of his child is actually her clone, Madelyn.
This season’s storyline is set to continue, with the team grappling with the consequences of Storm’s departure and the potential consequences of her re-entry into the X-Men.
