At the end of the first five episodes of the third season of “Young Royals”, Wilhelm and Simon have finally come to terms with the reality of being an out couple, but at the same time, it is clear that they still have a long way to go.
In the final episode, “Hillerska” is shut down after Felice reports bullying among the students, and August and Sara split up after she realizes that he did not see her as she really was. Sara eventually reconciled with Felice, and they both forgave each other. At the end of the fifth episode, Wilhelm and Simon spend their final night together at the lake before parting ways the following day.
The next day, Simon informs Wilhelm that he did not end their relationship but rather he ended it on the basis of the Royal Crown, and Wilhelm does not choose to abandon his duty. At first, Wilhelm does not want to abandon his duty, but later in the episode, he has a quiet talk with his mother in which he tells her that his interests are elsewhere.
After he tells his parents that August will be a better King, he rushes to look for Simon, and the two kiss in a heartbreaking embrace after Wilhlem tells him that he has renounced the Crown in his own time.
The series concludes with the two lovebirds happily ending together with Sara and Felice riding away in a carriage.
